Spreadsheet imports and column mapping
Map the columns of a new spreadsheet layout once. Later files with the same headers map themselves.

Excel and CSV files are parsed as tables. Amounts and dates stay exactly as they are on the sheet.
The first file of a new layout
- 1Upload the spreadsheet. It shows Needs mapping.
- 2Open it and match each column: date, amount, description, party, and so on.
- 3Save. AutoBooks remembers the layout by its header row.
Later uploads with the same headers are parsed automatically.
Trial-balance spreadsheets
- Debit and Credit columns are kept apart, not netted together.
- Total rows that only add up other rows are dropped, so nothing is counted twice.
- Each account name becomes, or matches, its own ledger.
